P•attern: a decorative design, as for wallpaper, made up of elements in a regular arrangement.

There is something hypnotical about Natalie Foss’s [ Oslo, Norway ] artwork; sad faces, evasive looks and characters who seem to be hidden a valuable secret.

The artist uses coloured pencils most of the times, therefore the magic of Natalie’s illustrations do not lie in a complicated technique but in the way she mixes her influences; mirroring the Pop Art on one hand, and remaining true to the portrait masters as Gustav Klimt or Egon Schiele on the other hand. As a result: intriguing body postures, bright colours and patterns.

Natalie Foss has exhibited at New Nordic Fashion Illustration vol.2 last year and she opens a group exhibition at The Hive Gallery and Studios this weekend. She has also designed a cover illustration for the italian band Bosco and some posters and T-shirts for bands as Lucius and Brunt.
