Pure | NEIL KRUG

P•ure: free from any extraneous or dissimilar materials, elements, etc.

Neil Krug [1983] manages to capture pureness and serenity using only film and colouring. In artist’s own words: “Does fast food taste better than a well-prepared meal from a chef?”. No, it doesn’t. Maybe avoiding the rapid rate of modern industry is the reason why his work has reminiscences of a another time, a mixed aesthetic between Fellini’s glamourous characters, Spaghetti Westerns and Woodstock’s carefree hippies.

This photographer and filmmaker basen in Los Angeles has worked for such a talented bunch of musicians as Tame Impala, Bat for Lashes, Lana del Rey or Devendra Banhart giving each of them a signature style for their album covers as well as their social media or magazine appearance.
