P•atient: continuing to work steadily; diligent; steady.
I will never forget these wise words that Vari Caramés [ Ferrol, 1953 ] said a few years ago while I was attending one of his lectures in A Coruña. It was something like this: I would never consider myself a hunter, even though the word “shoot” may suggest something relatedto this activity. Instead, I am a fisher; someone who takes the time to fish the proper photography.
And that’s so true! His works are full of the sensitivity and intimacy typical of an impressionist who values each little detail of the composition. He also tries to teach the spectator a certain way of looking, using filters which always play a vital roll in his pictures. Elements such as windows, water or steam allow us to see the object from inside to outside.
Nunca olvidaré las sabias palabras que Vari Caramés [ Ferrol, 1953 ] dijo hace ya unos años en una ponencia en A Coruña. Fué algo parecido a esto: Nunca me consideraría un cazador, aunque la palabra “disparo” pueda sugerir tal cosa. Me considero más bien un pescador; alguien que se toma el tiempo preciso para “pescar” la perfecta toma.
¡ Y es totalmente cierto ! Sus trabajos están llenos de la sensibilidad y la intimidad típica de un Impresionista que valora cada pequeña diferencia en su composición. Trata también de enseñarle al espectador una cierta manera de mirar, usando para ello filtros que siempre jugarán un papel importante en sus fotografías. Elementos como ventanas o mismamente el agua o el vapor, nos permiten ver los objetos desde dentro hacía afuera.
