During my trip to Edimburgh, last December, I was recommended by a friend to visit the current headquarter of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery ..so I did!. I can assure you it’s one of the most beautiful Gothic Revival buildings I’ve ever seen in my entire life and its inside doesn’t demerit its outside at all. The permanent collection it’s quite impressive but there was one artist who got my attention in particular, due to her spontaneity and way to communicate ideas; Magali Cazo, the winner of the BP Travel Award 2015.
Magali is a painter and designer who studied Fine Art techniques at the Ateliers Beaux-Arts in Paris and anatomy with Michel Lauricella. She considers drawing as a form of writing, reason why she’s being highly influenced by comic language and it’s an important aspect of her artistic expression, focused on the construction of the story.
Durante mi viaje a Edinburgo el pasado Diciembre tuve la suerte de visitar, por recomendación de una amiga, uno de los edificios neogóticos más espectaculares que jamás haya visto, sede de la actual Scottish National Portrait Gallery. He de añadir que el contenido no desmerece en absoluto la calidad del edificio. Me encantó su colección permanente pero también hubo un artista que llamó mi atención debido a su frescura y su forma de comunicar ideas; Magali Cazo, la ganadora del BP Travel Award 2015.
Magali is una pintora y diseñadora que estudió distintas técnicas de Bellas Artes en el Ateliers Beaux-Arts de la ciudad de Paris así como anatomía con Michel Lauricella. Considera el dibujo una forma de escritura y es por eso que el lenguaje del comic tiene gran influencia en su obra, en donde la construcción de la historia es el centro de su expresión artística.
